When it comes to work, there are few experiences as painful as seeing your dream job turn into a nightmare.
You worked hard to achieve it, felt at the top of the world when you started, but pretty quickly (or after a while) what was supposed to be the highlight of your career became one of the worst – if not the worst – professional experience of your life.
I have been there, and I worked with and heard from many people who experienced this as well: it’s painful, discouraging, heartbreaking, and just a really hard thing to get through.
But…you can get through it. And I am here to tell you that it’s a very common experience, although at the moment it doesn’t feel light at all.
In this podcast episode I share:
- my thoughts and observations on why it happens
- what you can do to prevent it – you can’t fully control this, but you can do your part of make it less likely
- what to do if this happened to you in the past and you cannot move on because some discouragement and fear are still lingering
- what to do if you are experiencing this right now
- and I end the podcast with some thoughts on the Greek myth of Persephone and how it can inspire us
